People Plus welcomes MSW Graduate students for Field Placement Internships. People Plus offers Field Placement opportunities for Foundation and Advanced Year graduate students.

People Plus is a non-profit organization located in the heart of Brunswick, Maine.  We focus primarily on programs, outreach and services to older persons residing in the Towns of Brunswick, Harpswell and Topsham.  We offer programs, services and outreach that address the individual and collective needs of older persons.  These efforts foster individual wholeness and successful aging in place through the promotion of independence, wellness, spirituality, social and civic engagement.  We believe that intergenerational connections are vital between younger and older persons. The benefits to both generations help create communities for all ages.

People Plus offers an exceptional Field Placement opportunity.  MSW students experience a strengths-based perspective at People Plus through a supportive, self-directed learning experience. MSW interns work together with collaborative, community partners to develop programs, projects, resource development, and advocacy though community outreach.  They are placed in a field environment that enhances and promotes social work practice with older persons. The experience is a rewarding and educational field placement that promotes professional and individual development within the field of social work. 

People Plus provides a Field Placement site which is comprehensive in scope and focuses upon skill-building in social work practice to develop competencies within the field of social work for the successful completion of the Foundation year and for the continued success in the Advance Placement year and beyond.

A MSW Field Placement experience at People Plus is richly diverse in scope and character.  Field Placement activities typically include:

·        Individual outreach cases

·        Community forums on elder abuse

·        Formation and facilitation of support groups

·        Resource identification, development and utilization

·        Fieldwork with Director of Outreach

·        Community outreach and Networking

·        Advocacy

·        Volunteer recruitment and supervision

·        Collaborative work with People Plus and community partners

·        Inclusive work on local and state projects
